Hello EAGLE Families,
EAGLE has a new program to help students manage their behavior and make more appropriate choices at school. EAGLE Recess Academy will take place during lunch recess each day. If a teacher would like a student to reflect on their behavior, and learn how to make better choices, the teacher will sign the student up for Recess Academy for one or more days.
Mrs. Kline, EAGLE’s Recess Academy Co-ordinator, works closely with the referring teacher to create a meaningful session for the student, using the Superflex Social Skills curriculum. While at Recess Academy, the student will work with Mrs. Kline to address their behavior(s) with the goal of preventing future occurrences.
Recess Academy is intended as a positive experience for the students, and to help teach them to use problem solving skills in social situations. Students focus on the Superflex program, and their lesson is based on their specific need. Once the student has successfully completed their Recess Academy session, they are able to rejoin their classmates for regular recess.
If a student is referred to Recess Academy on multiple occasions, and/or the teacher is seeing a pattern of behavior, the school will contact the family to discuss the situation and come up with a behavior plan for the student.
